MEXICO Week 6 🐠 April 4/9 - 4/15
After another restock day in La Paz and an overnight stay at our favorite campground in town, we made our way south to La Ventana. We’ve been getting out on the kayaks almost every day, and enjoying some incredible sunrises and sunsets. Fishing from the boats finally paid off yesterday when we went out with @wheelie_nelson- which means we enjoyed poke bowls and fresh fish tacos together at camp! Another week in the books in Baja and time is starting to blur a bit…

Also! Our first Baja YouTube video drops this Friday and we’re SO excited to be sharing our Pan American adventure in that format with you!

4/2-4/8 This was our first “

MEXICO Week 5! 🌊 4/2-4/8
This was our first “slow week” since getting to Baja. We spent one day resupplying on food and water and then retreated back to a quiet spot on a beach near La Paz. We spent much of our time working on video editing and we finally started thinking about our timeline for heading to mainland Mexico. We don’t feel quite ready to leave here yet, but we also don’t want to delay too much, and we’re excited to get to the rest of Mexico. After lots of discussion, we chose a few more places to explore on the peninsula, and we are tentatively planning to take the ferry to mainland in the first week of May! (Tentative being the key word here 😂)

Any guesses on where we’re heading next? Anywhere you think we NEED to see before we leave?

There are SO many reasons we could have delayed th

There are SO many reasons we could have delayed this trip. Or not done it at all. Leaving good jobs making decent money, living in a place we loved with lots of friends and places to explore close to home… life was good. But this dream of driving the PanAmerican was bigger than all of that. All consuming. Something we knew we would one day regret not doing. So here we are- hardly any possessions, no “house” (although our truck feels more like home than anywhere physical we’ve ever lived), our careers on pause, draining our savings. Missing friends birthday parties and ski days and family events. To be honest, it was a terrible time to leave everything behind. But would there ever be a less terrible time? Absolutely not. If we waited for a better time, most likely we’d still be dreaming about this while rolling around in our graves someday.

So we’re DOING 👏 THE 👏 DAMN 👏 THING.

And we hope you do the damn thing, too. (Whatever your thing may be)

3/26-4/1 We finally got to ch

MEXICO week 4! 🌵 3/26-4/1

We finally got to check Agua Verde off our “Baja Bucket List,” which was more than worth waiting for. For those of you who don’t know, this is our 3rd time visiting Baja, but our first time being here in a vehicle that we felt would be capable of making this drive. Lots of folks ask us why we swapped overlanding rigs before coming down here, and roads like these are a huge reason why. Our Fuso probably could have made it, but it would have been MUCH sketchier, and we just didn’t like to push it too much in that truck. I guess you could say we have a limit on the pucker factor (and we maxed that out in Alaska if you caught our YT video 😅)

After a week and a half of remote camping, we bounced our way back to HWY 1, making a stop to sleep in a beautiful cactus forest, and then continuing down to La Paz the next morning. We treated ourselves to a campground with laundry and showers (cold, but we’ll take what we can get😜)

Now we’re back on the beach and enjoying more of those perfect Baja sunsets!

We can’t believe we’ve been down here for 4 whole weeks already! Time is flying by and we’re starting to think about the timing of our ferry to mainland… maybe just a few more weeks in this paradise that we now feel is one of our many homes on this planet 🤍

Such a sweet little harbor town. Easier to get to by boat than by vehicle, but still boasting a great little market and a spot to fill our water. Having so many sailboats as “neighbors” for the week, we couldn’t help but wonder what this life would look like by sea. Should we trade the truck for a boat after we get to Ushuaia? 🤔

MEXICO Week 3 🏝️🌞 | 3/19-3/25
After doing a big restock in Loreto, we drove a couple hours south to San Cosme. This beach community is only accessible via a long, twisty, narrow mountain pass, and we are so happy to be in a vehicle that allows us to get to places like this! The views were incredible and the water was perfect for snorkeling and spear fishing. We planned to only stay for a few days, but couldn’t drag ourselves away until this morning- and only then because we are desperately low on water and produce. This spot will easily go down as one of our favorites, and the hidden hot spring was just icing on the cake!

There are some new faces around here so we thought

There are some new faces around here so we thought it was about time for a re-introduction! We are Heather and Dana, and we are driving the Pan-American Highway! We’ve been living on the road for the past year and a half- but we’re officially pointed south on this dream overlanding trip. Along with our dog Bruce, we live in our @phoenixpopup camper and we love getting outside and exploring new places. We’re avid hikers, bikers, skiers, runners, etc (pretty much anything outdoors!), and we’re so stoked to continue doing all of our favorite sports in all the new places we’re about to encounter. MEXICO Week 2 🌞 3/12-3/18
San Ignacio —> San Juanico —> Juncalito
After our incredible time with the whales in San Ignacio, we worked our way south on a gnarly, desolate dirt road to get down to San Juanico (aka Scorpion Bay). It was so beautiful in this little surf town, but unfortunately we got there just as the winds started to pick up again. We suffered through a few extremely windy few days before we made our way back over to the Sea of Cortez and found an epic spot to camp and enjoy the water again! We could probably stay here forever, it’s got to be top 10 on our list of best spots we’ve ever camped!

Mexico Week 1: 3/4-3/11

Mexico Week 1: 3/4-3/11 🌞 🌴 🌊

Last Tuesday we officially started our journey back into Mexico- where we plan to stay for roughly 6 months on our Pan American adventure! This is our third time in Baja California, and starting this leg of the trip in a familiar place was comforting. We had an extremely easy border crossing, and were issued our 6 month FMMs (visas) & and a 10 year temporary import permit (TIP) for the truck without any hassle!

Photo 2: Immediately stopped for tacos on the side of the road once we exited the craziness of Mexicali after crossing the border.

Photo 3: we met our friends for a night of camping on the water! We wish we could have had more time together, but they were already in a rush to head north while we are heading south. We miss you already, @roaming.nomads!

Slides 4-6: Camping on beach at Bahía de Los Ángeles (Bay of LA): such a beautiful part of Baja, but during first night we were met with relentless winds that battered us and our truck for days. We weren’t able to enjoy the water, so we decided to leave after only 2 nights.

Slides 7-9: Camping near Guerrero Negro and exploring the salt flats! You’ll have to wait for the YouTube video to see if we jumped in them or not 😉

Slides 10 & 11: camping in San Ignacio- one of our favorite towns in Baja, a true oasis!

Slide 12: always bouncing down the roads- and they’ve gotten a lot worse since last year 😂

Slides 13-17: San Ignacio Lagoon! We finally got out on a grey whale tour and it was an experience we will never forget! And camping right on the water made the trip even more magical 🤍🐋

The funny thing is, in this video we were only camped about 10 miles outside of Vegas- meaning over 2 million people were just beyond our reach. The juxtaposition of chaos and calm is kind of mind blowing 🤯

Living in a camper in the winter isn’t easy, and it’s not always fun. But skiing will always make it worth it.

Feeling future FOMO for next ski season as we will likely be somewhere in Central or South America on our Pan American journey. But it just means we’ll have A LOT to make up for when we get back 😉
